I am going on a cruise!

Well I have done it. I took the leap, I've committed 5 days of my time to......

MSC Cruises. I would have never thought I would do this but, I am going solo on a 4 night cruise from Southampton to Cherbourg and Zeebrugge.

My husband sent me a (sort of) joke about a longer cruise to the USA but that lead me down a rabbit hole to the Seascanner Website. Seascanner is the totally online arm of Cruise.co.uk which is a reputable travel agent here in the UK.

On a chance, I decided to have a look and see if there were any cruises going in the next couple of months for seven nights or less and for a cheap deal. I found one I'm going on the MSC Virtuosa leaving from Southampton on the 16th October yes that's less than two weeks from now.

I've booked an inside cabin on a guarantee basis this means that I am guaranteed at least an inside cabin grade but I could be upgraded in the future to an outside or balcony cabin. It's not likely to happen but nice to dream.

The total price that I have paid for this cruise is £261.70. Which works out when you divide it by 4 nights at just over £65. That is a real bargain when you consider that getting a Premier Inn for one night these days costs about the same if not more. For this price I will have my room which has a private bathroom, I will be eating at least three meals a day, ( I say at least because I'm a foodie and love to eat and I'm fairly sure the serving staff in the buffet will know me on a first name basis by the time I leave.) You get entertainment and activities on board. There are restricted drinks such as tea coffee and water available but if I wanted anything more exotic like a soft drink or alcohol I would have to buy it individually or buy a drinks package.

I have decided to challenge myself to not spend any money while on board this might not be possible but I want to make this experience as cheap as I possibly can and to show you that it is possible to travel alone without breaking the bank. I am sure this is going to be fairly difficult as MSC is a cruise line that charges for nearly everything. Although they're not alone in that endeavor.

Keep looking out for future blogs and I will link to my vlogs as well on the trip what I'm doing and what it's like being on board.

If you have any questions about MSC Virtuosa, visiting Cherbourg or Zeebrugge or life what life is like on board then do get in touch and I will try to answer as best I can.

Until next time xx
