2 Years on Youtube!

I cannot believe that 2 years have gone by since I published my first ever YouTube Video. It was unboxing the new camera I had decided to spend some of my inheritance on. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3. I had researched it and thought about it over and over again. 2 Years later it is still my main camera for all of my videos and I love it to bits.

I have been making videos for YouTube for 2 years now. In that time I have switched software, bought more cameras and equipment, travelled further away than I  have ever been before, visited new countries and travelled abroad completely solo. I turned 40,  Been very sad, been elated, been on TV (well in the background anyhow). Seen some local gems, film studios and sets, a royal family and square trees. Used ships, trains, planes, cars, chased dreams and felt all the feelings along the way.

I have done so many things, seen incredible things, been places and experienced places and I have been very lucky to do so. I have achieved less than I hoped, but more than I realise. Lets look at some stats:

Big Stats from the last 2 years.

These are the best performing videos per month on the channel. As you can see there is 0 consistency in views per video and they can fluctuate wildly. My best ever video has over 14,600 views and the worst on the channel has only 27 views.

I am still learning my way through the algorithm, I don't conform to any one topic beyond travel and so YouTube finds it hard to see where I fit in the world. But for now I am going to keep making the videos I want to make and tweak and grow as I go. I look back on the old ones and cringe and think what I would do differently. I learn each time I make something new and if I am very lucky a random stranger on the internet will be entertained for a while. If I am extremely lucky they decide to stick around to see what I will make next. If you appreciate something someone has made then do tell them by clicking the like button and leaving a comment. It makes the world of difference to their day and will help their videos be seen by other people with the same interests as you. It all goes to helping them becoming bigger creators.

Advice for anyone who wants to start making videos? Just do it. Get the best free software you can and keep things simple until you find your feet. The best cameras and software will do nothing for you because it takes work to put it all together. You might be an overnight success, you might reach no-one. You might bumble along for years with some followers who would like anything you make. YouTube isn't a get rich quick scheme, it is hard work and a massive learning experience. But if you like it, then do it!

I could not have done any of it without my support network and I am so unbelievably grateful to you all.

Until Next Time

xx
